In designing the α7R, Sony strove to balance the precise control working photographers need, with the ergonomics they want. The result is carefully crafted knobs and dials, robust functions, extensive customisation potential and recording and connectivity options, all in a durable, lightweight body 25% smaller than leading DSLRs.
Innovative Fast Intelligent Autofocus
The faster BIONZ X processor plus new spatial object detection algorithm work together to optimise control of the lens drive. Enhancements include more accurate eye detection and lock-on autofocus.
For perfect portraiture, this function creates sharp focus on faces even when partially turned away from the camera with a shallow depth of field, thanks to enhanced eye detection that can prioritise a single pupil.
Easily keep moving subjects in focus with this updated technology, which adjusts target frame size based on subject characteristics and makes use of a wide AF area to ensure usage of the optimal focus point.
With the Flexible Spot AF area setting, you can select different-size autofocus area to match your subject, and help ensure the camera focuses on the intended area. Wide and Zone focus area settings are also available.
With 100% frame coverage, 1024x768 resolution, high contrast, real-time settings updates and accurate bokeh, the OLED (XGA) Tru-Finder™ is not merely a composition accessory, but an enhancement. Completing the professional-grade features are five display modes and colour temperature and brightness adjustment.
FULL-FRAME FILM-MAKING
The α7R's combination of 35 mm full-frame sensor, range of lenses, headphone jack and XLR audio adaptor set a new lightweight filmmaking benchmark. And with the BIONZ X processor applying new area-specific noise reduction to video, even low-light documentary footage can look detailed and crisp.
To enable photographers to explore the limits of the α7R's unrivalled potential, Sony designed a new set of E-mount lenses precisely for the internal geometries of the new full-frame range. In addition, previous-generation α owners can use the full range of E-mount lenses or A-mounts with an adaptor for a professional range of 50+ lenses.
To capitalise on the full functionality of the A-mount lenses, adaptors offer a range of features including Translucent mirror technology.
The A-mount adaptor allows photographers to discover the possibilities of Sony’s existing 30+ professional lens range.
