Preparation

  • Applicable firmware versions:
    • If the firmware of your unit is version “13” or above, you do not need to perform the update

How to confirm the firmware version on the main unit

Note: Please make sure you have the remote control at hand

  1. Turn the main unit “ON”
  2. Press and hold the “SRC” button for 1 second on the main unit to turn the source off and display the clock
  3. Press the “MENU” button on the remote control for more than 2 seconds
  4. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “GENERAL”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  5. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “Firmware”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  6. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “Version”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  7. The current firmware version is then displayed. If the version displayed is “13” or above, you do not need to perform the update

Install

1. Preparation: how to prepare a USB storage device for the firmware update

  1. Connect the USB device to your PC and make sure you format it, selecting the FAT16, FAT32 or ex-FAT file system
  2. Make sure your PC is connected to the Internet
  3. Download the update file to your PC
    • File Name: RSXGS9_v13.zip
    • File Size: 72.1 MB (75,699 ,787 byte)
  4. Please unzip the downloaded zip file
  5. Copy the "UPDATE" folder under the root directory of the USB device which is connected to your PC
  6. Disconnect the USB device from your PC

2. Update: how to update the firmware of the main unit using the USB storage device

Notes:

  • The update via USB can only be performed using the USB1 port on the front panel
  • Please make sure to follow all the steps indicated below
  • The update procedure in your car takes approx. 5 minutes to complete
  • Park your car in a safe place and start the engine to avoid a voltage drop of the power to the unit
  • Please don’t disconnect the battery power supply or the ignition power supply (accessory power) during the update, as it may cause a malfunction

  1. Turn the main unit “ON” and please wait 30 seconds for the unit to come back from standby mode completely.
  2. Press and hold the “SRC” button for 1 second on the main unit to turn the source off and display the clock
  3. Press the “MENU” button on the remote control for more than 2 seconds
  4. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “GENERAL”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  5. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “Firmware”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  6. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “Update”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  7. Push the “↑” or “↓” buttons on the remote control to display “YES”, and press the “ENTER” button on the remote
  8. When the display indicates “Insert USB”, please insert the USB storage device containing the firmware update into the USB1 port
  9. The update should finish in approximately 5 minutes and when finished and successful, the unit will restart automatically from the source OFF state (where the clock is displayed)
  10. Confirm that the firmware version is updated by following the above “How to confirm the firmware version on the main unit” procedure. If the version number displayed is “13", the firmware update is completed
