    About this download

    Updating is simple and with the newest firmware version, you can get even more from your Digital Still Camera “Cyber-Shot” DSC-W630 and DSC-W650. Please read carefully the following instructions.

    • Benefits and improvements:
      • Display error correction of recorded time, "0:**" under the following conditions.
        • Playback mode
        • Date & Time Format "D-M-Y"
    • Restrictions: Use battery which is fully charged.
      Make sure the update file is the only file stored on the memory card.

    Preparation

    This update utility is not necessary if your Cyber-Shot has already firmware version 02.
    If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

    1. Push Zoom [T] key and Play Back key to set power on.
    2. Push MENU key and open PB menu -> Main Setting menu.
    3. Check the "Version" at the last page of Main Settings menu.

      Note:If you cannot find Version menu, retry from procedure No2.

    • Windows Vista SP2 (Starter edition is not supported)
    • Memory card including update file.
    • Fully charged battery.

    Download and install the update

    1. The update program download is started by clicking Download button on the bottom of this announcement.
      Download the DSCW650630V6_svc02.zip and decompress the downloaded file.
      Copy the decompressed File SONYDSCF_DSCW650630V6_svc02.ASH in root of memory card.
    2. Insert the memory card included the update file.
    3. Push Zoom [T] key and Play Back key to set power on.
      Be sure to press first the Zoom [T] key and then the Play Back key (keeping the Zoom [T] pressed down. If Play Back key is pressed first, Version display will not appear.
    4. Push [MENU] key and open PB menu -> Main Setting menu.
    5. Open the last item Version.
    6. Check Current and New version number, and select OK.
    7. At confirmation, select OK. The Update will start.
    8. When update is finished, push OK. (The camera will re-start and initialize screen will appear automatically.)

      Updating. It takes about 2 minutes

      Update finish.

    After the update

    Please confirm the version when the update program is installed successfully with following steps.

    1. Push Zoom [T] key and Play Back key to set power on.
    2. Push MENU key and open PB menu -> Main Setting menu.
    3. Check the "Version" at the last page of Main Settings menu.
      The update program installation is succeeded when 02 is shown on the screen.

      Note:If you cannot find Version menu, retry from procedure No2.
