    Overview

Need help choosing a lens? See our tips below.

    • Aperture size: Wider apertures (e.g. f/1.4) equal better background blur and low-light performance.
    • Weight and portability: Prime and compact zoom lenses (with a focal length of 18–55mm or 24–70mm) are easier to carry.
    • Subject: Wildlife? Go telephoto. Landscapes? A wide-angle lens is ideal. Travel? A standard zoom may cover it all.
