How to connect an Android mobile device to your TV using Wi-Fi Direct
This article helps you connect your Android mobile device to your TV using Wi-Fi Direct.
The following steps and images may differ depending on the Android mobile device being used. Refer to the operating instructions of your Android device for model-specific information. Manuals are posted on our support website.
Use the Wi-Fi Direct connection set-up or the Manual connection method below to set up your Android device.
Wi-Fi Direct connection set-up for an Android mobile device
- Set up the Wi-Fi Direct feature on your TV before connecting your mobile device.
- After completing your TV set-up, use your Android mobile device, and select Settings.
- Under Settings, select Wi-Fi (as shown in the image below).
- Tap the three vertical dots icon in the upper-right corner of your screen, and from the drop-down menu, select Advanced (as shown in the image below).
- Select Wi-Fi Direct (as shown in the image below).

From the list of Wi-Fi Devices, select your TV model (e.g. XBR-55X850D, as shown in the image below).
- Your Android mobile device is now connected with the TV.
- You are now ready to send content to the TV.

Manual connection method:
- Set up the Wi-Fi Direct feature on the TV before connecting your mobile device.
- After completing your TV set-up, use your Android mobile device, and select Settings.
- Under Settings, select Wi-Fi (as shown in the image below).
- Select the SSID displayed on your TV for Wi-Fi Direct (as shown in the image below).
- Enter the WPA Key displayed on your TV for Wi-Fi Direct, and then tap Connect (as shown in the image below).
- Your Android mobile device is now connected with the TV.
- You are now ready to send content to the TV.
