Tuscany was the main region featured in this project, chosen for its incredible variety of landscapes and atmospheres. Over two days, our goal was to test the RX10 V in a real travel context - the kind of environment where, within just a few kilometres, you can move from rolling hills and scenic roads to historic villages, architecture, street scenes, food, culture and everyday details.
That diversity gave us the perfect opportunity to test the camera in many different situations, from the soft light of sunrise and sunset to more dynamic conditions during the day. It allowed us to build a continuous and natural visual narrative, just as we would on any real travel assignment.
As travel creators producing social content every day, often on very tight schedules, the RX10 V immediately gave us one clear impression: it simplifies the entire workflow.
We are used to travelling with multiple tools - tripods for couple content, gimbals, drones, action cameras and different lenses. Since we work without a team, every simplification has a real impact on both efficiency and logistics.
Our first impression was the incredible versatility of having a 24-600mm zoom range in a single camera. It allowed us to move instantly from wide landscapes to distant details without interrupting the creative process. Battery performance was also excellent for our travel pace. The camera uses the same NP-FZ100 battery we know and trust from our Alpha 7 IV, which gave us confidence even on the longest shooting days.
Overall, the RX10 V exceeded our expectations in both image quality and operational flexibility, making our setup lighter and more efficient without compromising creativity.
The RX10 V’s 24-600mm zoom had a huge impact on the way we approached storytelling throughout the trip. The ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm f/2.4-4 lens impressed us with how compact and lightweight it feels considering its enormous focal range, while still maintaining consistent image quality throughout the zoom.
During our time in Tuscany, we could move naturally from wide landscapes and hilltop views to spontaneous street scenes in historic villages, then instantly switch to distant details such as sunsets or the moon — all without interrupting the flow of the story.
The ability to isolate subjects and create compressed perspectives at longer focal lengths also added a more cinematic look to our images. The biggest advantage, however, was never having to change lenses. No missed moments, no interruptions — just complete freedom to tell the story exactly as it unfolded.
On trips like ours, everything can change in a matter of seconds. A scene appears, a moment unfolds, and then it disappears just as quickly. We experienced this constantly while exploring Tuscany’s busy villages, narrow streets and ever-changing environments.
In these situations, the RX10 V immediately inspired confidence thanks to its highly responsive AI-powered autofocus, which was able to recognise and track subjects even in chaotic scenes. This allowed us to focus on storytelling rather than the technical side of capturing the shot.
The ability to shoot blackout-free continuous bursts at up to 30fps proved invaluable for capturing fast sequences and fleeting moments, especially while shooting from a moving car as we travelled between locations. In those moments, continuous shooting helped ensure we never missed the perfect light, gesture or composition.
Photos and videos captured from moving vehicles also remained stable and sharp thanks to the integrated optical stabilisation, making it easy to maintain focus and image quality even without a dedicated setup. In the end, the feeling was always the same: being ready, anywhere, whenever the moment happens.
As a travel creator couple, we regularly find ourselves in completely different environments - from backpacking adventures in the Philippines and road trips across Costa Rica to luxury resorts in the Seychelles and city breaks throughout Europe. In every one of these situations, a camera like the RX10 V offers clear advantages over a traditional camera system.
The biggest benefit is reducing the amount of gear we need to carry. Fewer lenses, fewer lens changes and fewer decisions along the way make the entire travel experience smoother, especially in airports, during flights and on long travel days.
Whether we are heading out for a day trip, hiking, or exploring a city on foot, the compact design allows us to stay light and always ready to shoot.
As a couple working independently without a crew, that simplicity becomes incredibly valuable. The RX10 V allowed us to focus on storytelling rather than equipment, giving us more freedom of movement and more opportunities to fully experience the places we were documenting.
The RX10 V is ideal for travel creators, couples and families who want to document their journeys without carrying a complex camera setup. It is also a great option for photographers and videographers who are constantly on the move and need a lightweight yet highly versatile tool.
It works particularly well for creators who produce both photo and video content and want to be prepared for any situation, from adventurous expeditions to more relaxed travel experiences, without constantly changing equipment.
It is a camera designed for those who want to simplify their setup while maintaining a high level of image quality, flexibility and creative freedom throughout their travels.
Our main piece of advice is simple: travel light and be ready to react. The best travel moments often last only a few seconds.
One of our favourite memories from Tuscany happened while photographing a classic Fiat 500 that we had rented for a shoot. We quickly found ourselves in a popular location where many other visitors were also waiting to take photos with the car.
In that situation, the RX10 V allowed us to work incredibly quickly, switching between photo and video, vertical and horizontal formats, without changing gear or losing time.
Everything was captured naturally and spontaneously. It was in that moment that we truly realised how valuable responsiveness and speed can be when telling a travel story.
